Do I have to join to attend an event?

        No. You are welcome to attend a meeting or event to learn more about our activities.  You can always pick up an application and mail in your application and check a little later.


How often do you meet?

       We have approximately 60 activities a month. They range from several sports, discussion groups, variety of games, outdoor activities, concerts, classes, presentations, parties, movies, special events and even dining adventures.  We attempt to have something to interest everyone.
We are especially proud of our “No Eating Alone Today” program for Sunday Dinner Potlucks.  These usually include dinners on special holidays when people might otherwise be alone.


How much is it to join?

       We have a nominal fee of $30 per year. This allows you a discount to most events, advance notice of events., a monthly newsletter delivered to your email (or by US mail for those who do not have email) and a weekly update by email every Wednesday that includes any pop-up events or changes.  


Are you handicap accessible?

       Yes, we are. We are located on the ground floor with no steps. Our parking is just outside our front door.


Are you a dating organization?

       No, we are not a dating or match-making organization. We are an activities organization and promote a safe place to engage in activities and forge friendships.


How long have you been around?

       We were established in 1983 and incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in 1985.  At one time we were the largest Singles Organization in the United States, even having a membership in our area of about 5000 members.


Where are most of your meetings held?

       We are located in Colonie on New Karner Road, just off Central Ave. (Click here for directions).  Most events are held in our community room although some events are held in other locations – for sporting events and dining adventures.


Is there an age limit?

       We are open to all unattached adults.  Attendance can be any age depending on interest in the event. We have no restrictions but we mainly have more mature members although that can change depending on those joining and creating new events.


Do you provide transportation to events?

       No.  Transportation is up to the attendee.


What are your hours?

       Our hours are dependent on the events and our availability to work in the office.


How big is your staff?

       We are an all-volunteer organization. We have a volunteer Executive Director as well as participation by our Board of ten members and general members who facilitate some activities.


Do I need to sign up in advance to attend events?

       In general, the answer is no.  There are some events that do require advanced registration such as dining adventures, outside ticketed events and All-Inclusive dinners. Those special events are noted in our monthly newsletter.
We suggest letting the event leader know, even if you're not sure that you'll attend. This way the leader can let you know if there are last minute changes or cancellations.
